Indiana Recycling Coalition Leader To Step Down Later This Year
Indianapolis, IN. Carey Hamilton, the Executive Director of the Indiana Recycling Coalition (IRC) for the past five years, has announced she will step down at the end of November. Under Carey’s leadership, the IRC has celebrated dynamic growth and several legislative successes. “During the past five years, Carey has grown and diversified our funding base, grown staffing and outreach, and significantly enhanced our reputation as an effective voice for recycling at the Statehouse and across Indiana,” stated IRC’s Board President James Parker. “Most notably, Carey led our electronics recycling legislative push in 2009 which resulted in a significant increase in the safe recycling of electronics across the state, as well as a successful state budget funding request during the 2013 legislative session which resulted in the doubling of recycling economic development grants.”
Carey’s fundraising successes in addition to her work building countless new community partnerships have been crucial to the IRC’s ability to better serve its mission in recent years. She has also been active in the community during her tenure, which has reaped multiple benefits for the IRC and its mission. Carey served as Co-Chair of the Environmental Programs Committee for the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee; she is a board member of Keep America Beautiful and a 2011 graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Program.
“It has been a great pleasure to lead this dynamic coalition and I look forward to working with our board of directors to facilitate a smooth leadership transition over the next four months,” said Ms. Hamilton. A search committee led by the IRC’s executive committee will post a position description and hiring timeline by mid-August.
