What is the NRC?
Founded in 1978, the National Recycling Coalition, Inc. (NRC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization representing all the diverse interests committed to the common goal of maximizing recycling to achieve the benefits of resource conservation, solid waste reduction, environmental protection, energy conservation and social and economic development. Its 4,500 members include recycling and environmental organizations; large and small businesses; federal, state and local governments; and individuals. The Coalition, based in Washington, D.C., provides technical education, disseminates public information on selected recycling issues, shapes public and private policy on recycling and operates programs that encourage recycling markets and economic development.

In this section, you can read transcripts from online discussions hosted by the NRC and find a list of peers working on these issues.
Waste Prevention Tools. NRC's Source Reduction Forum has developed a number of resources to assist businesses, consumers, and local governments with implementation of waste prevention programs. This website also includes resources for measuring the effects of source reduction programs. (The terms "source reduction" and "waste prevention" are used interchangeably on this site.)
Recycling Works. NRC is providing relevant information and networking opportunities for municipal recycling coordinators, material recovery operators, material processors, trade association representatives, and others through its Recycling Works program. We also hope to demonstrate how a range of materials can be cost effectively recovered for recycling, while enhancing their quality and market value.
