The purpose of America Recycles Day is to encourage people to increase their recycling efforts and purchase recycled products. Pledge cards like the one shown below encourage individuals to make a personal commitment to support recycling.
As with the first annual America Recycles Day, pledge cards will be entered in both state and national drawings for some great prizes. The contest will run from September 15 until November 15. You can distribute and collect pledge cards at any America Recycles Day event you hold.
All pledge cards postmarked by November 17, 1999 will be entered in the state prize drawing, to be held on NovPrizes are listed on theThe pledges will then be sent to the national America Recycles Day Prize Drawing.
The national drawing for the American Green Dream House will be held on December 15, 2000 in Washington D.C. One lucky person over the age of 18 will win this fabulous home constructed of recycled-content and energy efficient materials, to be built anywhere in the continental United States; the grand prize is worth $200,000 plus up to $35,000 to purchase land. 1999 National Grand Prizes for people under the age of 18 include a trip for four to Disney World and 25 remanufactured computers plus a server to be awarded to the winner's school.
