Recycling at the State Fair
 

For the past several years, the IRC has loaned 50 recycling bins to the recycling program at the Indiana State Fair to collect plastic bottles and metal cans. The recycling program has also collected corrugated cardboard from the food vendors at the Fair. Many other organizations are involved in this recycling effort, with Indiana's Greening the Government Program taking the lead in coordinating the project.

Overall, the Indiana State Fair has been a successful event that brings in huge recyclable goods. The increase in the amount of pounds each year is shown below.

In addition, 4.5 tons of old corrugated containers (OCC) was collected during the 12 days of the Fair. In 2002, 3.8 tons of OCC was collected and in 2001, 2 tons of corrugated was collected.
