Among US states, Indiana is perpetually ranked near the bottom for environmental quality. Furthermore, Indiana has historically underprioritized and inadequately invested in environmental education, which has led to a lack of equitable access to resources and information. The result is consecutive generations of Hoosiers with low environmental awareness. This session examines the connection between investments in environmental education and the outcomes of sustainable behaviors, supportive policies, and environmental ethics that directly impact environmental quality. This session will also make the case for developing a strong culture of environmental education in Indiana.
IRC staff will present a live demo on the IRC's forthcoming Master Recycler Program (MRP), our new online education program which will address the critical need for environmental education in Indiana.
