A new and popular feature of last year's Annual Conference was the Celebrity and Silent Auction that raised money while we all raised heck, having a good time, getting ourselves some bargains, and playing a wacky game of Recycler's Jeopardy! Items up for bid were from such stars and celebrities as Daniel Day-Lewis, Robert Goulet, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby, Steven Spielberg, and an original shooting script from the television series "M*A*S*H*", donated by Alan Alda.
The calls to do it again have been strong, so we are going to do just that. We encourage anyone to join us who is interested in experiencing the excitement and awe at what the mailman brings as our celebrity autographed donations roll in. It's really easy to help! We will provide you with a basic, boilerplate letter to the celebrities, IRC stationery and envelopes with which to produce and mail them, and addresses to some of the celebrities in the performing arts.
Anyone with contacts to local celebrities, sports teams and media individuals, sports teams of universities and colleges, is encouraged...nay, begged to obtain donations for the auction. We will also eagerly accept donations in the form of merchandise, art items, or gift certificates from businesses throughout the state.
Laura M. Dellinger, IRC Vice President, has again agreed to head up the
committee, but reminds us that the more we all work to obtain items, the
more fun and thrilling momentos and bargains we will have available to us
for bidding. Contact Laura by calling 317/232-7658.

A new school fund raising program, "Learning to Make a Difference" has been unveiled by Seventh Generation, Inc., and the J.L. Hammett Co.
The program is an innovative way for students to raise money for their schools and support recycling and buying recycled paperproducts. A portion of every sale goes back to the school, and products are delivered directly to customers.
