Dear Friends,
Thanks to the many of you who helped make this year’s REVENT, our fourth annual fall gala, the best one yet. The energy in our cozy and eclectic venue was high, the art and entertainment auction was a great success, the food was delicious and the seats were sold out!
Click here (IRC slideshow) and here (IndyStar slideshow) to view pictures of this fun evening and look for a save-the-date announcement in the new year for REVENT 2013!
Of the several items that follow, please note details about Conservation Day at the Statehouse, an event of the Indiana Conservation Alliance. We hope you will consider registering to attend this important gathering of like-minded organizations.
You may already know that the IRC team works at the statehouse to advance recycling (in good years) or defend recycling (in tough years). This is a small but important part of the work that we do. During the upcoming legislative session, thanks to our work in recent months to garner industry support for new ideas to advance recycling, we are hopeful that progress will be made. We will keep you posted if and when legislative proposals move forward so that you can lend your support. So please, stay tuned!
In the meantime, on behalf of the IRC staff and board, I wish you and yours a peaceful and joyous holiday season.
Carey

CONSERVATION DAY
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013 -
Sponsored by the Indiana Conservation Alliance, Conservation Day provides an opportunity to show our elected officials that Hoosiers care about protecting our precious natural resources and preserving our environment. Not only is there a chance to engage legislators in matters that mean the most to us, but we’ll also have the chance to learn more about conservation organizations throughout the state. The IRC will have a table at this event.

Search for 2013 AF&PA Recycling Award Winners Underway
Enter today - the 2013 American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) Recycling Awards are officially underway! The annual awards program recognizes outstanding school, business and community paper recycling efforts. An award winner in each category earns a $2,000 cash prize, original framed ‘paper art’ and local and national visibility. New in 2013, a Fan Favorite award in each category will be determined by a voting campaign promoted through Facebook and Twitter. In addition, schools are encouraged to submit student artwork and recycling messages that could be used to educate peers about the importance of paper recycling. Winners, runners-up and unique programs will become prominent content on a redesigned paperrecycles.org website and in printed AF&PA outreach materials.
Deadline for entries is February 15, 2013.
